ENGLISH

• The Department of English was established in the Year 1965. It is as old as the Institution itself.
• The Department has had an illustrious past and is working towards a promising future for students.
• In 2012, it became a full-fledged Research Department with the introduction of Ph.D. (Part-time) Programme.
• The Department also offers a Certificate Course in Communication Skills in English.
• The Dept. of English Major was established in 2012, thanks to the whole hearted co-operation extended by the distinguished College Committee and the keen interest evinced by the Principal, Dr. W. Abdul Hameed. A wing of the department of the Foundation English, the Dept of English Major is functioning in the Un-Aided Stream as one of the Departments offering the Major Programme.
• Commencing its academic routine just with 17 students, the Dept. has grown bit bigger by rolling out of its portals, students of Three batches. The Department’s academic potential is strong with Seven qualified teachers, contributing to the intellectual efficiency on the campus.

PSO1 - Discuss the unique features of Indian Writing in English and exhibit the ways and means of Indian Writers’ literary works.
PSO2 - Analyse the history of English Literature and English Language abilities by gratifying the world literature to absorb the contents.
PSO3 - Demonstrate the English Language Skills in various aspects with strong emphasis on Oral Presentation
PSO4 - Drill and make practice of pronunciation in English Language to bring the proper sounds.
PSO5 - Interpret the different layers of meaning in the texts along with their historical affiliation of the authors’ view
