The department of commerce of C. Abdul Hakeem College was started as one of the earliest department of in the year 1968. B.com and M.com Programmes were started in 1971 and 1987 respectively. The department was elevated into a research department in the year of 2006 by offering M.Phil (Full- Time and Part-Time) and Ph.D., Programme was started in the year 2010. The evening college from the year 2004.
The Department has excellent infrastructure and well qualified faculty members, also engaged in active research in several areas of Commerce. Both faculty members and research scholars have published many research papers in National and International journals and presented papers in National and international seminar/ conferences/ workshops.
The department has lighted its beacon lamp of scholarly guidance to illuminate the research world of 26 M.phil., Scholars, who have successfully accomplished the task by helping the commerce banner fly far high on the mast of glory. Three different books by the three staff members, one each, have been published by Deep & Deep, New Delhi, which have unfurled coveted reputation to the recognized Guide-Supervisor for the Scholars sailing across the ocean of research culminating in the award of Ph.D in commerce.
